Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22), member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has introduced the Flights for Freedom Act, which ensures that the United States government will not charge U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents for evacuation or repatriation flights out of Afghanistan now or any time in the future. Last week, it was reported that the Department of State was requiring Americans to sign promissory loan agreements of up to $2,000 for their evacuation flights out of Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) released the following statement after soon-to-be former Governor Andrew Cuomo commuted the 75-year sentence of David Gilbert. Gilbert is a convicted cop killer and former member of a domestic terrorist group, the Weather Underground. The group is known for its violent anti-American activity, including bombing the U.S. Capitol, Pentagon and other government buildings. Cuomo also commuted the sentences of four other convicted murderers.

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) today led four of her colleagues in introducing the Championing Uncensored Broadband Access, or “CUBA” Act of 2021. This bill will direct the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of Defense, Director of National Intelligence, and Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission, to counter the Cuban government’s censorship efforts and take steps to support the dissemination of censorship circumvention tools.

While U.S. officials have previously stated that emergency flights would be free, there are reports that American citizens are being asked to pay for them.
