WASHINGTON D.C. (NEXSTAR) — Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) and other house lawmakers say residents in long-term care facilities should never be completely cut-off from their loved ones.

“Many of them are sitting in isolation in these care facilities,” Tenney said.

The Essential Caregivers Act would allow residents to designate essential caregivers who could continue to provide support, even during a public health emergency. During the peak of the pandemic, caregivers could not be present as their loved ones died in isolation.

ALBANY, NY – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney took to the House floor last week to cheer on the successes of 3 high school football teams from her district.

Tenney read into the record the accomplishments of the Tioga Tigers, Chenango Forks Blue Devils and Maine-Endwell Spartans who each won state football championships this year.

Tioga captured the class D crown finishing 12 and 0.

Chenango Forks won the C class by shutting out Schuylerville in a rematch of the 2019 championship game.

A mask mandate for shops and other indoor spaces in New York state took effect Monday as officials confront a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday that masks would be required in all indoor public places unless the businesses or venues implement a vaccine requirement.

The rule will last at least until Jan. 15, and enforcement is in the hands of local counties.
