Congresswoman Introduced Bipartisan Bill to Counter the CCP’s Malign Acts
On Oct 27, Republican Congresswoman from New York State Claudia Tenney introduced a bipartisan bill – the “China Watcher Act” at the Congress. The bill would commit resources and personnel to monitor and combat the CCP’s infiltration across the military, economy, and politics worldwide.
By report, aiming at CCP’s hegemony and malicious activities, this Act will establish some new programs at the Department of State to strengthen the capacity of the U.S. government to communicate and engage with foreign nations, regional and international bodies. Which in order to better confront the malign influence from CCP together.
In addition, the Act requires all the designated diplomatic officers that are stationed abroad by the U.S. government to submit a report annually, which includes the nature and extent of the key overseas industries that CCP directly invested in. The Act also requires the Secretary of State to prioritize the foreign countries that have been influenced by CCP and have U.S. interests involved locally.
Representative Tenney, the initiator of this Act, further stated: “China has aggressively ramped up its malign activities across the globe and today poses one of the most significant national security and economic threats to the United States.” By far, several Congress members from both parties have joined in on supporting the bill.
