A year after the pandemic wiped out the beloved annual tradition, Whitesboro held its Memorial Day parade Monday to honor those who died in the armed forces.

Hundreds lined Main Street to watch the procession, which included the Oneida County Sherriff's Department, the Whitesboro Fire Department, local Boy and Cub Scout troops, veterans groups and elected officials such as Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente and Asssemblywoman Marriane Buttenschon.

UTICA — Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-22, New Hartford presented the families of veterans Pvt. James E. Overturf and Pvt. Charles A. Wells with Purple Heart medals posthumously in recognition of their service to our nation during World War I in a ceremony on Friday. Both Overturf and Wells served in the Army.

The Burmese community of Utica marched from Oneida Square to Hotel Utica and back in solidarity with the millions in Myanmar living under a cloud of darkness. 

The southeast Asian nation suffered a military coup in February as its army overthrew its democratically elected government. Over 800 civilians have been killed since, including numerous children.

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney joined the group following the march at Kopernik Park, and expressed her support for the thousands of Burmese refugees in Utica.

CHENANGO COUNTY (WBNG) -- Some counties in New York’s 22nd District have seen some of the lowest vaccine rates in the state. That is according to data from New York’s website for vaccine tracking.  

Thursday Representative Claudia Tenney visited the village of Sherburne to discuss expanding broadband access in the state. While there she also discussed her take on the COVID-19 vaccination rollout.

COOPERSTOWN, NY (WSKG) — Joined by Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-22), officials and residents in Sherburne met to discuss options to expand broadband access to underserved residents in Chenango County and similar areas Tuesday.

The Village of Sherburne is pushing forward with plans to build out its own broadband infrastructure to provide residents with affordable internet connections with speeds far above the limited options that exist now.
