When he first proposed its construction more than two centuries ago, Gov. DeWitt Clinton’s plan for a 363-mile canal across upstate New York was met with derision and scorn.

They said it was a pipe dream; that it could not be done.

Many even derided it as “Clinton’s ditch.” They laughed when he came, cap in hand, asking them to help finance the project.

Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-22, New Hartford, joined nearly three dozen of House Republicans in sending a letter to Phillip Swagel, Director of the Congressional Budget Office seeking a non-partisan assessment of the Build Back Better Act.

The CBO is the agency tasked with reporting on budgetary and economic impacts of proposed legislation.

“(The) CBO is not always right and while I have had concerns with their assessments in the past, it is vitally important for Congress to have all the information before considering far-reaching legislation like this,” said Tenney.

U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-New Hartford, has made election integrity a primary focus of her second term in Congress.

Her efforts include forming and co-chairing the Election Integrity Caucus, with exclusively Republican membership. 

Tenney said she kept in touch with local boards of elections and had people on the ground reporting on any irregularities.
