Republican Claudia Tenney was officially sworn in Thursday morning to the U.S. House of Representatives by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to serve New York’s 22nd congressional district, ending the seat’s nearly three months-long vacancy and epic court battle over mail-in ballot disputes.
Washington – Claudia Tenney took the oath of office in the House chamber this morning, officially ending an epic election battle against Anthony Brindisi that lasted for three months after the Nov. 3 election.
Tenney, R-New Hartford, stood on the House floor just after 9 a.m. and raised her right hand as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi administered the oath.
The U.S. Department of Justice has reached an agreement with the Oneida County Board of Elections over a voting rights lawsuit that included issues with registrations and provisional ballots in the tightly contested 2020 race for New York's 22nd Congressional District.
According to the terms of the agreement announced Monday by the department, the county BOE will develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that election officials review and process all timely submitted voter registration applications in accordance with the National Voter Registration Act.
