NY22 Veterans Affairs Caseworker Receives Distinguished Award Recognizing Service to Community
Utica, NY – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) is pleased to share that the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 490 of Utica today recognized D. Jason Phelps, Director of Constituent Services in Tenney’s Utica District Office, for his service to veterans in our community at a ceremony hosted at the Elks Lodge in Utica.
“For more than two decades, Jason Phelps has done an outstanding job serving our community and making sure the needs of our veterans are met. No matter how big the challenge, Jason has always been there to serve and support veterans. I am honored to have Jason on my staff and look forward to continuing our work together on behalf of our local veterans. Congratulations to Jason for receiving the Special Recognition Award from the Purple Heart Chapter of Utica. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this great honor,” said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.
“The members of the CNY Chapter #490 Military Order of the Purple Heart of the USA are very pleased to honor Jason Phelps, Director of Constituent Services for the 22nd Congressional District, with our ‘Special Recognition Award.’ Jason has always been instrumental and has always gone above and beyond the call of duty for helping all veterans, their families, active military service members, and the communities within the Congressional Districts that he has served,” said Joe Fraccola, Commander of the CNY Chapter #490 Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Jason Phelps has worked for area congressional representatives for more than two decades. Jason began his service as an intern for late Congressman Sherry Boehlert in Washington, D.C., and, after a short time working for a nonprofit, became a member of Boehlert's Utica staff, where he dedicated himself to veterans' case work. Jason has worked for five different Members of Congress in the Mohawk Valley and during this time has served countless veterans across the region.
