Congresswoman Tenney’s Statement on Record Early Voting Turnout in Georgia Following Passage of Key Election Integrity Law

October 19, 2022

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22), founder and co-chair of the Election Integrity Caucus in Congress, today released the statement below following record early voting turnout in Georgia. This midterm election is the first general election to take place since the state passed a key election integrity law, which codified more early voting days than New York, implemented voter ID requirements, and ultimately made it easier to vote and harder to cheat.

“This week, on day one of early voting in Georgia, nearly 125,000 Georgians turned out in-person to vote in the midterm elections—an increase of more than 50,000 from the previous record for the first day of early voting. This is a tremendous success for the people of Georgia, who are turning out in record numbers to exercise their sacred right to vote.

“What this week's record turnout also shows is that Georgia’s election integrity law is not ‘Jim Crow in the 21st Century,’ as President Biden falsely claimed. It is not inhibiting access to the ballot box, as the President and so many woke corporations asserted falsely that it would. This law is working exactly as intended: making it easier to vote and harder to cheat.

“President Biden and the woke corporations that deliberately lied about Georgia’s election integrity law to divide Americans and score cheap political points owe the nation an apology.”
