Congresswoman Tenney's Statement on the House January 6th Committee's Subpoena of President Trump

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) today issued the following statement in response to the House January 6th Committee releasing a formal subpoena of former President Donald Trump.

“Speaker Pelosi’s January 6th Committee has been a partisan, Soviet-style show trial from the start. The Committee has abandoned the basic principles of fairness and due process guaranteed to all by our Constitution, and it appears to me that their primary objective is to smear former President Trump and his supporters, not to get the truth of what really happened on January 6th. Now, with the midterm elections just weeks away, the Committee has taken the extraordinary step of subpoenaing a former President. The subpoena is an ‘October Surprise,’ which is calculated solely to ignite the Democrat base just weeks before the election.”
