Congresswoman Tenney Votes “No” on Unconstitutional Democratic Bill to Federalize State Elections

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22), co-chair of the House Election Integrity Caucus, today issued the following statement on passage of H.R. 4, a radical bill that paves the way for a federal takeover of elections in the United States.  

“H.R. 4 is yet another unconstitutional bill from the left that undermines the integrity of our elections. It completely eviscerates commonsense reforms enacted at the state level like voter ID and grants unprecedented power to unelected Washington bureaucrats. Because this bill is so bad for American democracy, Speaker Pelosi rushed it through the House of Representatives without a single committee hearing and never provided Members of Congress the opportunity to meaningfully change the bill through the amendment process. At a time when Americans are demanding free, fair, and transparent elections, H.R. 4 is an extreme effort by the Democrats to rig the system, manipulate the process, and take power away from states."
