Congresswoman Tenney Secures Nearly $3 Million in Funding for Griffiss Institute
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today announced that a nearly $3 million grant was awarded to the Griffiss Institute Inc. from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
This grant will support the Smart-X Internet of Things (IOT) Living Lab project, allowing vendors and developers to integrate, test, experiment, and demonstrate their innovative technology capabilities. Tenney submitted this project request for federal funding through the FY23 Community Project Funding process last Congress. Many constituents from Tenney’s current district, NY-24, work for the primary beneficiaries of these funds, the US Air Force’s Rome Laboratory and its surrounding high-tech ecosystem.
“I am thrilled to announce that the NIST has awarded a substantial grant of nearly $3 million to the Griffiss Institute Inc. for the Smart-X Internet of Things (IoT) Living Lab project,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “This grant is a win for Upstate and Central New York, bolstering our region’s high-tech innovation and manufacturing economy. Today's announcement marks a significant milestone for our community and the countless companies that serve the technology needs of the Air Force and the broader Department of Defense. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on our region.”
Tenney’s office has worked tirelessly to assist constituents across NY-24 to receive Federal Grants totaling over $10 million.
