Congresswoman Tenney Reaffirms Support for Israeli Sovereignty Over Area C in Judea and Samaria
Cleveland, NY – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today introduced the Anti-BDS Labeling Act to prohibit federal funds to be used to reverse or alter the Trump administration’s “Country of Origin Marking of Products from the West Bank and Gaza” rule.
This rule requires that products made in Israeli-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria be marked as originating from “Israel.” This rule also requires that goods made in Gaza or Palestinian-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria be labeled as either made in “Gaza” or the “West Bank”, not in “Gaza/West Bank”. This rule reinforces Israeli sovereignty over Area C in Judea and Samaria, as defined by the Oslo II Accord, and reiterates that Gaza and Judea and Samaria are two separate territories, not one unified entity.
"The Anti-BDS Labeling Act ensures an accurate representation of products that originate from Israel, Gaza, or Judea and Samaria,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “This not only reinforces existing U.S. policy but also prevents the BDS movement from arbitrarily discriminating against goods made in Israeli-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria. The United States should always stand with our greatest ally in the Middle East and continue working to uphold the longstanding Oslo II Accord, which was agreed to by both Israeli and Palestinian leadership. I remain committed to standing against any efforts to delegitimize Israel, and any efforts to reverse or alter this labeling rule.
