Congresswoman Tenney Proposes $14.056 Billion in Targeted Security Aid for Israel

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) introduced legislation to provide targeted security aid to Israel, totaling $14.056 billion. This funding would solidify the United States' commitment to strengthening and advancing Israel's military capabilities in their effort to defend themselves against Palestinian terrorist organizations, such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. 

In response to the heinous attacks on Israeli citizens by Hamas on October 7, Tenney introduced the "Operation Swords of Iron" Iron Dome Supplemental Appropriations Act, allocating $2 billion to bolster Israel's Iron Dome defense system. The $14.056 billion appropriations bill, titled the “Operation Swords of Iron” Supplemental Appropriations Act, builds upon the original act by expanding aid beyond the Iron Dome system and providing Israel with the additional support it needs to conduct Operation Swords of Iron.

President Biden recently proposed a $105 billion omnibus package of aid for Israel, Ukraine, the U.S. border, Taiwan, and other priorities. Tenney’s bill would include just the funding for Israel and reaffirms her commitment to stand alone funding bills. 

"Each day without action by the United States, more Israeli civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, are brutally raped, kidnapped, and murdered by Hamas," said Congresswoman Tenney. "The time to stand with Israel and unequivocally oppose anti-Semitism is now, and it demands a resolute response from the United States. Further, aid to Israel should be considered individually, rather than paired in an omnibus package. This targeted security investment will keep American troops out of harm's way and strengthen our national security while assisting Israel in defeating terrorist organizations that seek to kill as many Jews as possible. Congress must swiftly appropriate this funding to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to Israel and our Jewish brothers and sisters."
