Congresswoman Tenney Leads Charge to Defend and Strengthen Parent's Rights in Schools

March 24, 2023

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today voted in favor of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act. This legislation works to provide legal protections for parental rights regarding their children’s education.

Tenney was an original co-sponsor of the bill, which passed the House by a vote of 213-208.

The Parents Bill of Rights is built on five common-sense principles:

  1. Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.
  2. Parents have the right to be heard.
  3. Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.
  4. Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy.
  5. Parents have the right to keep their children safe.

New York is under attack from the woke ideology the far-left is pushing. In New York City, schools spent over $200,000 on drag queens to perform for elementary school students. Schools across New York are also being forced to teach Critical Race Theory to their students.

“From unconstitutional mask mandated to coping with learning loss from shutdowns, our nation’s children have faced numerous challenges these past few years,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “Recently, the far-left has spearheaded a mission to force Critical Race Theory and drag queens into our children’s curriculum. As a mother, a conservative, and a steadfast supporter of our educators, I believe it is time to restore family values in our schools. I am honored to support this legislation that will encourage transparency and accountability in our school systems and restore trust between our educators and our communities.”
