Oswego, NY — Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) last week traveled throughout New York’s 24th Congressional District to meet with local businesses, first responders, community organizations, and municipal leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Upstate New York communities.

During the district work period, Congresswoman Tenney visited and met with organizations and leaders across NY-24, including Legacy Agency of the Finger Lakes, which was recognized as Seneca County Small Business of the Year during National Small Business Week, the Yates Community Center construction project, Phelps Sun Gas, Wendt’s Propane & Oil, Hoover’s Dairy, the Clifton Springs YMCA, and Travertine Technologies in Wayne County. She also met with Town of Seneca Supervisor Roslyn Grammar and Supervisor Bill Wellman to discuss local priorities, infrastructure needs, fiscal challenges, and economic development efforts. In addition, Congresswoman Tenney toured the Phelps Volunteer Ambulance and Fire Department to hear directly from first responders about their funding needs, and attended NASCAR Cup events at Watkins Glen International. Throughout the week, discussions focused on strengthening small businesses, supporting agriculture, energy production, investments in community organizations, and addressing the economic challenges created by harmful state policies.

During the district work period, Congresswoman Tenney:

  • Recognized Legacy Agency of the Finger Lakes as Seneca County Small Business of the Year during National Small Business Week.
  • Toured the Yates Community Center construction project and met with leadership regarding ongoing development efforts.
  • Met with Phelps Sun Gas leadership and staff to discuss energy affordability, trade conditions, and state energy policies.

  • Visited the Clifton Springs YMCA to discuss programming, facility upgrades, and operational challenges.

  • Attended NASCAR Cup events at Watkins Glen International.

“Spending time in our communities and hearing directly from the people who live and work here is the best way to understand what families and local employers are facing every day,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “Throughout NY-24, I met with small business owners, farmers, first responders, energy providers, and community leaders who are working hard to serve their neighbors and strengthen our local economy. Many shared concerns about rising costs, overregulation, and harmful policies coming out of Albany that are putting pressure on families, businesses, and essential services. Despite those challenges, there is incredible innovation, resilience, and community spirit across Upstate New York. I remain focused on advancing commonsense policies that lower costs, support local jobs, protect reliable energy, and give our communities the tools they need to grow and succeed.”
