Congresswoman Tenney Demands Investigation into Election Interference by Intelligence Officials Over Hunter Biden Laptop
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray, demanding they investigate Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the 51 signatories of the “Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails” for deliberately misleading the public to influence and interfere with the 2020 presidential election.
Following the 2020 Election, evidence has revealed that Secretary Blinken and the 51 signatories of the "Public Statement" used their standing in the intelligence community to push the false "Russian disinformation" narrative on social media outlets, despite knowing this was false. Tenney requests an investigation be launched by July 22, 2024, to hold these intelligence officials accountable for fraudulently influencing and interfering in a federal election.
“In an effort to deliberately mislead the American electorate just months before an election, these signatories violated the Hatch Act, engaged in election interference, and possibly making false statements while retaining top level security clearances,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “In December of 2019, the FBI determined that the laptop computer and its contents were authentic, yet less than a year later, weeks before the election, these 51 intelligence officials, led by Former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell and Secretary Blinken, claimed this was Russian disinformation, engaging in blatant election interference and violating the Hatch Act. AG Garland and FBI Director Wray must fully investigate their misconduct and prosecute any unlawful activity to the fullest extent.
