Congresswoman Tenney Blasts Cuomo’s Shameful Decision to Commute Sentence of Convicted Cop Killer David Gilbert
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) released the following statement after soon-to-be former Governor Andrew Cuomo commuted the 75-year sentence of David Gilbert. Gilbert is a convicted cop killer and former member of a domestic terrorist group, the Weather Underground. The group is known for its violent anti-American activity, including bombing the U.S. Capitol, Pentagon and other government buildings. Cuomo also commuted the sentences of four other convicted murderers.
“Governor Cuomo’s shady decision to pardon David Gilbert on his last day in office is despicable and outrageous. Incoming Governor Hochul can right this wrong. She should consider renaming the new bridge in Nyack, formerly the Tappan Zee, after Peter Paige, Edward O'Grady and Waverly Brown, those murdered by Gilbert.
“Gilbert's son, Chesa Boudin, is a George Soros-funded District Attorney in San Francisco, who is pushing one of the most radical anti-police agendas in the country. It is no surprise that Cuomo, a card-carrying member of the political insider’s club, was possibly persuaded by the power and financial benefits that could be gained by appeasing Soros’ political network.
“My deepest sympathies to the families of these brave public servants murdered by David Gilbert, who are now witnessing justice undone by Cuomo's callous betrayal. Thankfully, we only have two hours left of Andrew Cuomo’s tenure. It is time to restore integrity and justice to the Empire State.”
