Congresswoman Tenney Announces Military Service Academy Appointments
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) today announced that eight appointments to United States Military Service Academies were offered to students from New York’s 22nd Congressional District. A total of six students received appointments, with one receiving appointments to three separate academies.
This year, Tenney nominated 11 students for appointments to Service Academies. These students were nominated by an independent panel based on their academic achievement, exceptional character, and commitment to community service. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congresswoman Tenney can nominate a select number of candidates to the Service Academies each year. Students were recommended to Tenney for nomination by a local committee made up of community leaders and veterans from across New York’s 22nd Congressional District.
“One of the greatest honors I have as a member of Congress is to nominate some of our region’s most talented students to the Military Service Academies,” said Tenney. “My son attended the Naval Academy, which is why the Service Academy process has always been especially important to me. I am inspired to see so many young people motivated to serve our country in this way. I congratulate all those who received appointments and wish them nothing but success in their upcoming academic and military careers.”
