Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Responds to Recent Increase in Violent Crime
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) today released the following statement in reaction to the recent spike in violence in communities across New York, including a shooting that occurred near Binghamton High School recently.
“When children head to school in the morning, parents should not have to fear for their safety. Yet in too many communities across our District, parents are afraid. I commend Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham, and the Binghamton Police Department for their swift actions in response to the recent uptick in violent incidents at the Binghamton High School. I am confident that the right steps are being taken to address this horrible situation.
“It is clear to me that there is an epidemic of crime sweeping across this great nation. We once thought, “this couldn’t happen here,” but now it is unfolding before us. We must act together to take the steps necessary to strengthen our communities. At the federal level in Congress, I will continue working in partnership with local officials to deliver the resources and support our region needs to address the increasing challenge of violent crime in our communities, especially impacting family and young people.”
