Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Opposes Partisan Democrat Spending Spree

December 8, 2021

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) tonight voted against a partisan bill that paves the way for out-of-control federal spending and unsustainable levels of debt.

“Yet again, Democrats chose to engage in cynical and partisan political games instead of committing to the work of responsible and principled governance. I could not in good faith support a bill that leverages our nation’s future stability and enables wasteful spending on the Democrats’ socialist agenda, while holding Medicare and seniors hostage.

“It is shameful that despite skyrocketing inflation, my Democratic colleagues still charge forward with trillions in new spending paid for through tax increases on working families. Moreover, the bill provides cover for the Democrats’ devastating cuts to Medicare, which were triggered by a budget gimmick they included in their last partisan spending bill. Medicare is a lifeline for millions of seniors, and I will always fight to protect it for current and future beneficiaries. The American people deserve to know that tonight, House and Senate Democrats placed their partisan agenda before the strength and solvency of this vitally important program.

"I am honored to support the Removing Waste and Protecting Medicare Act in Congress, which fully and responsibly funds Medicare to prevent future cynical stunts like this. Unfortunately, Democrat leadership failed to bring this legislation to the House Floor for a vote.”
