Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Backs Bill to Ban COVID-19 Travel Discrimination

October 15, 2021

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) today announced her support for the Let Me Travel America Act, which would prohibit the U.S. Federal Government from mandating the COVID-19 vaccination as a prerequisite for interstate travel, transportation, or movement.

The Biden Administration has repeatedly threatened the requirement of a COVID-19 vaccine for interstate travel, likely by requiring vaccine passports. This is in direct conflict with the Constitution. Under the 14th Amendment and the Privileges and Immunities Clause, Americans are provided the right to freely travel between states. It would be unlawful for the Biden Administration to implement a vaccine requirement for interstate travel .

“The Let Me Travel America Act is a commonsense bill that reiterates what’s already enshrined in our Constitution: the federal government has no legal authority to restrict an individual’s right to interstate travel. I will continue fighting against federal overreach by the Biden Administration and ensure our rights are not trampled by a power-hungry President and his enablers.”
