Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Announces $3.2 Million Grant for Clean Energy Buses and Vehicles in Binghamton

June 23, 2021

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) announced that Broome County will receive $3,255,276.00 from the Department of Transportation through the Low and No Emission Vehicle Grant Program. This funding allows local transit authorities to purchase or lease low or no-emission buses and other transit vehicles that rely on battery electric and fuel-cell power to provide cleaner and more energy efficient transit services to communities across the country.

"I am pleased to announce this $3.25 million in funding for Broome County, which will make our community and public transportation cleaner for riders by promoting the use of more energy efficient vehicles and buses. The United States remains a world leader in reducing our carbon footprint, and investments like this in our transit services will contribute to these efforts even more while expanding public transportation options for residents of the Southern Tier."
