November 28, 2021

MOHAWK, N.Y. -- Congresswoman Claudia Tenney made a special visit to Mohawk on Sunday afternoon.

Tenney honored World War II veteran and a Pearl Harbor bombing survivor Thomas Nelson.

The Congresswoman presented Nelson’s family with an official copy of the congressional record, where she recognized Nelson’s heroism in a speech on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

Friends, families and other elected officials were also in attendance to honor Nelson.

“Mohawk and this whole region is a region that really honors our veterans. They really care about our veterans community. There is no better place to do it, especially a place like here where so many people served and so many people died in honor of our country. So many people also lost life or limb, and there are great survivors, like Mr. Nelson who turned 100 last month”, said Congresswoman Tenney.

Tenney also presented an American flag to the family that was flown over the United States Capitol.
