Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Visits Evelyn’s House as Part of Renew NY-22
Utica, NY— Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) toured Evelyn’s House run by Kids Oneida as part of the Rebuilding our Communities Week, the second week of Renew NY-22. Kids Oneida is a non-profit organization that works with at-risk youth and their families enabling them to live a productive and healthy lifestyle.
“Through Kids Oneida, Evelyn’s House was founded as a safe and nurturing home, offering supportive services for young mothers and their children. It was great to tour the house and meet with the Director and partners of the program to learn firsthand how they empower the most vulnerable in our community with the tools for a lifetime of success,” said Rep. Tenney. “Rebuilding our communities starts with supporting proven programs like Evelyn’s House that help those who are truly needy. In Congress, I will continue to champion programs that provide targeted assistance to give our vulnerable a hand up.”
In 2014, Evelyn’s House supported 16 young women and 17 children in the home, with 11 transitioning to permanent housing, 2 enrolling in GED programs, 5 attending or graduating from high school, and 6 securing daycare.
