Washington, D.C.— Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) announced that a total of $4,229,000 in federal funds from the Department of Agriculture has been awarded to the towns of Mexico and Lenox and the Village of Boonville. This funding comes as Rep. Tenney is headed on another tour of the 22nd District to highlight Renew NY-22, her plan to revitalize and renew opportunities for our region. This week, Rep. Tenney is emphasizing the need to invest in infrastructure to target projects most in need of support. This funding will be used for improving our rural infrastructure and expanding water access for rural areas.

“America’s rural communities have been left behind due to a lack of strong and sustained investments. It is vital that our water infrastructure in rural communities like the 22nd District is properly funded to ensure safe, clean drinking water,” said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. “This funding is an important step forward in improving our infrastructure and expanding water access for rural areas in the 22nd District."

  • $500,000 grant and $1,280,000 loan for the Town of Mexico-The federal funds will be used to build a water district that will serve 210 people who are currently drinking from contaminated water.
  • $1,320,000 loan for the Town of Lenox-The federal funds will create a water district connecting 210 homes and businesses, removing any health and sanitary concerns.
  • $1,129,000 loan for the Village of Boonville-The federal funds will be used to replace the failing 1792 box culvert system. This project is urgently needed because the storm sewer has collapsed in front of the fire department, blocking the exit and entrance. All 2,072 residents of Boonville will benefit from this federal grant.
