Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Calls on Senate & House Armed Services Committee & NDAA Conference Committee to Include Tenney Amendment and Funding in Final Package
Tenney Advocates for Rome Lab funding, Perimeter Fence and Veterans Gym
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) sent a letter to Chairmen Thornberry and McCain and Ranking Members Smith and Reed as well as the members of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Committee urging the committee to include her amendment allowing the secretaries of each branch of the military to permit veterans to access certain fitness facilities not attached to a military base. She also asked the Committee to preserve the $14.2 million in funding secured for a perimeter fence around the Air Force Research Lab Information Directorate also known as Rome Lab. These amendments were already included as part of the House version of the NDAA and must be included in the final conference report that is presented to both the House and Senate before being signed by the President.
"The amendments and funding I secured in the House NDAA are of vital importance to the 22nd District, most notably Rome Lab and veterans in our region. That’s why I’m calling for the inclusion of the provisions I introduced in the final conference report. My amendment gives the secretaries of the respective military branches the ability to open the doors to fitness facilities, including the Colosseum Gym in Rome, to our veterans once again. Additionally, I am requesting that the $14.2 million for the perimeter fence at Rome Lab, which increases the safety of the Lab's more than 3,000 personnel and reduces the facility's susceptibility to terrorist activities, is retained in the final conference report,” said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.
