Congresswoman Claudia Tenney Secures Rome Lab Fence Funding in National Defense Authorization Act
Washington, DC— Today Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) announced that through her advocacy, the National Defense Authorization Act includes $14.2 million for a secured perimeter fence around Rome Lab.
"Securing the funding for the perimeter fence is a critical win to enhance security at Rome Lab and I am proud that the advocacy of our office ultimately led to the inclusion of this funding in the House's proposal. For decades, Rome Lab has stood at the forefront of advanced cyber research and development projects within the Airforce. The highly sensitive nature of Rome Lab's research and development projects place the site at a heightened risk," said Rep. Claudia Tenney. "This secure system of perimeter fencing will increase the safety of the Lab's more than 3,000 personnel and reduce the facility's susceptibility to terrorist type activities. I would like to thank the members of the Armed Services Committee for taking my testimony into consideration and including our request for a perimeter fence in the National Defense Authorization Act."
Last month, Rep. Tenney testified in front of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Military, Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies to advocate for a perimeter fence around Rome Lab.
Rep. Tenney also submitted additional testimony to the U.S. House Armed Services Committee highlighting the important work Rome Lab does for our military. Through this testimony, she successfully secured the inclusion of a perimeter fence for Rome Lab.
