Utica, NY— Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) toured Empire Recycling to see firsthand the important work Empire Recycling has done for our community over the past 100 years. On the tour, the Kowalsky brothers informed Rep. Tenney that as a direct result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Empire Recycling’s quarterly bonus given to their employees increased by 50%.
“As part of my tour of small businesses across the 22nd District, I visited Empire Recycling. For over 100 years Empire Recycling Center has been a vital aspect of the Utica economy, and the Kowalksy brothers have grown Empire substantially to support the recycling needs of not only the Mohawk Valley but Central New York and the Southern Tier as well," said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. “Businesses like Empire are proof that providing desperately needed relief from the failed ‘tax and spend’ status quo, especially in New York State, is the most effective way to improve and grow the economy. As a result of tax reform, Empire’s employees received 50% more than what they would usually receive in their quarterly bonus. Now, these employees will have more money to invest in their retirement, provide their children with increased educational opportunities, save for college and plan for the future.”
“The ownership and staff of Empire Recycling appreciate Congresswoman Tenney and her efforts to reform taxes as well as her attention to her constituents,” said Ed Kowalsky, Vice President of Empire Recycling Corp.
