Congresswoman Tenney Visits Local Hospitals, Calls for Protecting Rural Health Funding Amid Democrat Shutdown
Washington, DC — Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) visited Noyes Hospital in Dansville and Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua to meet with leaders and providers, tour their facilities, and discuss the urgent need to protect rural health care access amid the ongoing Democrat-led government shutdown.
During her visits, Rep. Tenney heard directly from health care administrators about the challenges caused by the Democrat shutdown and their proposal to cut $50 billion intended to modernize and sustain rural hospitals over the next five years that was passed as a part of President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cut. This targeted relief distributed through the Rural Health Transformation Program is designed to help facilities recruit staff, expand services, and keep vital programs operating in small communities.
“The Democrat shutdown is hurting our rural hospitals and the patients who depend on them,” said Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. “These facilities are lifelines for our communities, providing emergency care, cancer treatment, maternity services, and long-term care. President Trump’s Working Family Tax Cut created a dedicated rural hospital fund to strengthen facilities like Noyes and Thompson, but Democrats are now trying to gut that support to pay for their far-left wish list. I will continue fighting to protect these funds and ensure our hospitals have the resources they need to save lives and serve families across Upstate New York.”
